Plan your three-day weekend around Angel Fire Resort’s event schedule. Experience festivals, events and carnivals. Christmas is an especially magical time of year to visit the resort. All winter long, families will have endless activities to wear out the kids during the day. At the end of each day, relax by the hot tub at The Lodge, or cozy up to the fireplace in your condo and reminisce on the magic and memories your family created together.
Day One of Family Fun: Sleigh Ride and Dining
Bundle up the kids and take them on a ride through the village that they’ll never forget. Join Nancy Burch’s Roadrunner Tours for a ride on a horse-drawn sleigh and travel along the foothills of the Carson National Forest and through Angel Fire Resort. Bring your camera to capture photos of wildlife and the children playing in the snow. Free hot chocolate and s’mores are available on certain days. After a day of snow play and viewing wildlife, head back to The Lodge to enjoy a meal at one of our resort restaurants. Whether you want a quick bite or a gourmet meal, Angel Fire Resort has a variety of dining options to fit your tastes.
Day Two: Nordic Skiing and Night Skiing, Friday Night Rail Jam
Sleep in and then head to The Bakery in the village of Angel Fire for a true New Mexican breakfast. Once the family is fueled up, arrange a shuttle or head over to the Nordic Center at the country club for over 12 KM of groomed, classic and skate cross-country ski and snowshoe trails. In addition to the groomed trails at the Nordic Center, Angel Fire also has a number of ungroomed Greenbelt trails that meander through Moreno Valley. Pack a lunch or get takeout from one of the area’s restaurants and enjoy lunch with the elk and deer.
Angel Fire Resort offers New Mexico’s only night skiing and snowboarding on the front side of our mountain shortly after 5 pm. Enjoy 50 acres of freshly groomed terrain.
Day Three of Family Fun: Family Ski Day and Game Night
When the powder flu strikes, and your family is itching to play in the snow. Pro Tip: Before a day on the slopes, make sure to pick up or arrange rentals as early as you can, and be sure to have breakfast to fuel the day’s adventures. If you’re staying at The Lodge, stop by The Lift Cafe for a hearty breakfast burrito, made in-house, or some Starbucks coffee. After breakfast, drop off the kids at their ski lesson, or hop on the Chili Express all together and cruise more than 80 trails of the perfect corduroy.
Take a break midday at The Summit Haus. Grab a bite to eat with the most incredible views of Moreno Valley and Wheeler Peak as the backdrop. After lunch, ski down to the base area and enjoy a hot beverage at The Village Haus and snow play.
After the end of a long day, return to your vacation rental or room at The Lodge and pick up some cards or a board game from the concierge. Most rentals have fireplaces, so roast some s’mores, play some family games and tell stories of the day.
