Next up on the Signature Trail Series is Minder Binder. (Check out other posts in the series about Heading Home, Hells Bells, Exhibition, and Hully Gully.)
This run is another backside favorite. It is possibly one of the steepest runs on the mountain. It was originally named “Jaspers” after former Ski Patrol Director, Jasper Hicks. The modern run was named after a bar in Tempe AZ, which, was named after the character Milo Minderbinder in the movie “Catch 22.”
This signature run is located on the back side of the mountain at the base of Lift #3. You can head through Liberation Terrain Park or take Alley to access the trail.
Minder Binder offers great steeps and is a must-ski on powder days.
A funny thing that happens to powder is that if you ski it enough, it will make moguls. Minder Binder has the perfect pitch for mogul skiing once you’ve had your fill of powder. This run feeds into Lower Minder Binder which then feeds to the Southwest flyer lift.
AFR Insider Tip
On powder days, get to this run early to avoid the crowds. You’ll find some of the best skiing and snowboarding at Angel Fire Resort for more experienced skiers and snowboarders.
