Headin’ Home is the first trail featured in our Signature Trail Series. Headin’ Home is arguably our most classic trail. This top to bottom trail is the run we strive to open first and is a main vein to many other great runs on our mountain. It is a green trail and offers friendly, cruising terrain for all ability levels.
Headin’ Home is located to skier’s right when you unload the Chile Express lift. It continues back to the base area which gives it it’s namesake, Headin’ Home. The total distance is 3.5 miles. Skiing or snowboarding this trail in it’s entirety will give you a vertical change of 2,000 feet. If you are a skier or a regular footed snowboarder, you will enjoy all the views the frontside has to offer. The best views are to skier’s right, so if you are goofy footed, I would recommend riding switch (just kidding).
Headin’ Home’s pitch varies for a playful variety of more gentle terrain, fun rollers and a few easy steeps to get your speed up.
A Little History
Before we had a chairlift that connected the front and back sides of the mountain, Headin’ Home served as this connection.
AFR Insider Tip
Headin’ Home is a great trail to try if you are with a group of friends you haven’t skied with before. You can assess everyones’ speeds, ability level and get a good warm up before hitting other trails. This run s a perfect first run for families as well, because ability levels tend to vary.
