Fall time is the best time to get acquainted with the enchanting aspects of New Mexico. And what better place to start than here at Angel Fire Resort? Leave the planning up to us, and hop in the car or in the saddle and explore everything we have to offer in our corner of autumnal paradise!
Ride the Chile Express & Hike Down
The leaves are starting to change in the mountains and we’re ready for some autumn color here at Angel Fire Resort. What’s the best way to see these beautiful fall colors? A quick ride up the Chile Express will bring you 2000 ft. above the Moreno Valley where you will see panoramic views of the Southern Rockies and gorgeous fall colors. If you’re feeling adventurous, the Enlightenment Trail is an advanced hiking trail that spans over 2000 vertical feet, from the summit of Angel Fire Resort to the base accessed by the Chile Express. The lift is open for weekends only until November 1st, or when the snow flies.
Family Photoshoot
Capture the best views around and snap some photos of the fam at the Summit! The Summit is an excellent place for family photos, just remember to bring a sweater! Tickets for the chairlift are available at the Ticket Office at the base of the Chile Express chairlift. Call (575) 377-4383 for any additional information. If you’re looking for a location a little closer to the base, the wedding deck is accessible via car just off El Camino Real. Our fall photography tips include: Stabilizing the camera, shooting with a low ISO to capture details of colors and leaves, using custom white balance settings or using the “shade” setting and use indirect light to emphasize dark tones of trees and leaves.
Golf Fun in Fall Time
Grab your clubs and tee off at Angel Fire Resort’s unspoiled golf course. The par 72, 6,653 yard, 18-hole golf course meanders through groves of aspen, spruce and pine. Autumn at the golf course is particularly special, with tee times plenty and an uncrowded country club. Get prepped for a birdie by practicing on the new putting green, installed this June. Reserve your spot by calling (575) 377-4488.
Paddle Around the Lake
Just because summer is over, that doesn’t mean the water is off limits. Monte Verde Lake is your premiere spot for fishing, paddling and even walking the dog. Fishing equipment, bait, stand-up paddle boards, pedal boats, two-person kayaks, and fishing boats are available for rent. In fact, the fun continues at Monte Verde Lake through the end of October.
Fall Time Bike Park Riding
Ah yes, autumn. Our favorite time of year for a crisp, morning ride through golden glades, kickin’ up leaves! But seriously, it is gorgeous this time of year here at Angel Fire Bike Park. Not only are we extending the season through November 1st, but we’re psyched on all the trail work completed over the summer. One of our favorite trails, Hungry Hippo, is going through a complete transformation and should be ready to ride in October! The new rebuild of Boulder Dash, more pro and more flow, will turn up the heat on your morning ride!
