What to Expect
What to Expect for Your Adaptive Lesson at Angel Fire Resort
If you’re joining us as a stand-up participant, we kindly request that you arrive at least 1.5 hours before your lesson starts. This extra time allows you to visit our rental shop and get your equipment sorted. Once you’re all set with your gear, make your way to our Ski School meeting point. Additional equipment like outriggers, tip clamps, or tethers are available to you at no extra cost.
For sit-skiing participants, we recommend going directly to our Ski School ticket office at least 15 minutes prior to your lesson’s scheduled start time. The check-in process typically takes about 15 minutes, so please plan to arrive a bit earlier to ensure a smooth start to your lesson.
Sit-skiers, ADA parking and a convenient ramp is available to you, located right in the cul-de-sac by the Ski School Ticket Office.
Once your dedicated instructor is assigned to your lesson, they’ll meet with you to discuss the lesson and your specific needs related to your disability. This allows us to tailor the lesson to your unique requirements. Your instructor will also assist in adjusting any equipment you may need for the lesson. Depending on the equipment and lesson goals, this process can take anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes. Once everything is set up just right, your instructor will guide you to the appropriate terrain and commence the teaching portion of the lesson.
At the end of the lesson, we’ll regroup at a pre-designated meeting place to wrap up your day on the slopes.
Please be aware that lessons take place in all weather conditions, and that all students should dress accordingly. Students may encounter conditions ranging from cold and windy at the top of the mountain to warm and sunny at the bottom, or even heavy snowfall. For those participating in sit-ski lessons, be aware that some students find these lessons to be colder due to lack of movement while in the bi-ski. We strongly encourage all students to wear waterproof or water-resistant winter clothing, warm footwear, gloves, and a hat. Goggles or sunglasses, along with sunscreen, are also recommended.
